At Insight PA Middle School, our 6th-8th grade counselors are committed to nurturing our students’ personal growth, supporting their well-being, and empowering them to become successful students and compassionate individuals. Here’s a glimpse of what our school counselors do for our MS students:

Counselor Connection

Bi-weekly sessions called Counselor Connection allow 6th-8th grade students to engage with their peers and counselors. These sessions cover many topics, including bullying prevention, growth mindset, healthy coping skills, and more! We help our students further develop and refine their social skills and emotional skills by using the MS Character Strong curriculum. This valuable time allows our students to learn about essential life skills while connecting with others. Parents and learning coaches can learn more about this curriculum and partner with us counselors by visiting the Family Strong page on the Character Strong website.

Small Group Counseling

Middle students have the opportunity to participate in small group counseling facilitated by the counselors throughout the school year. Students are selected to participate in this targeted intervention with topics determined by our social-emotional screener. These groups provide a supportive environment for students with similar needs, addressing coping skills, regulation skills, self-management skills, and social skills. The goal of this intervention is to provide a proactive approach to addressing students social and emotional needs.

Individual Counseling

Counselors are available to meet with any student in need of one-on-one support. Students can request to meet with their counselor by signing up in Counselor Connection, or simply sending an email to their counselor. Whether it’s managing stress, coping with anxiety or depression, addressing bullying situations, refining time management skills, or navigating transitions, we’re here to assist our students in building resilience and confidence. Counselors will schedule the meeting with students in a NewRow classroom, which will appear on the student’s schedule in the online school.
