Alice Solomon, MSS | President

Alice Solomon is a Business Development Consultant with over 30 years of experience providing support to national and global business leaders in areas of employee assistance, account management, and client relationships. She received her Bachelors’ degree in Child Development from Penn State University and earned her MSS from Bryn Mawr College in Social Work and Social Service Management. Alice has worked as a faculty member at Penn State and Neuman Universities, and has worked at Children Youth Services in Delaware County, Main Line Health, and the Philadelphia Chamber of Commerce. Alice is committed to providing options to students and families that help them feel included, valued, and supported to achieve academic success. She lives in Delaware County and enjoys hiking, reading, baking, and spending time with her grandchildren.

Alice joined the Insight PA Board of Trustees in 2019. In addition to her role as Board President, she is also a member of the Academic, Community Engagement, Finance, and Governance Committees.

Christopher R. Rossi, BS | Vice President

Christopher Rossi is a Vice President of Information Security and Technology with Total Expert. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Information Systems from Drexel University, holds certifications in Governance of Enterprise IT and Information Security and Privacy, and is a member of the International Information System Security Consortium and Information Systems Audit and Control Association. Chris is committed to efforts that provide access to and engage students in technology and emerging fields. He lives in Philadelphia and enjoys hiking, running, and playing board games.

Chris joined the Insight PA Board of Trustees in 2018. In addition to his role as Vice President, he also serves as Chair of the Governance Committee.

Lowell L. Thomas, Esq. | Treasurer

Lowell Thomas serves as Senior Counsel for the Philadelphia Housing Development Corporation. He received his Juris Doctor from the University of Iowa College of Law, MBA from Tippie College of Business (UI), and BS from the Wharton School of Business (UPenn). Lowell previously served as senior policy manager for the Governor of Pennsylvania, chief counsel for the Philadelphia City Council Majority Whip, and as a law clerk for the Pennsylvania Supreme Court. Lowell is committed to protecting civil and constitutional rights for all Americans, and ensuring that all children have access to a quality education that prepares them to be productive citizens. He lives in Philadelphia and enjoys art, dance, and sports, as well as reading and writing.

Lowell joined the Insight PA Board of Trustees in 2018. In addition to his role as Treasurer, he also serves as Chair of the Finance Committee.

Edward J. Knittel, MA | Secretary

Edward Knittel is a retired municipal manager and consultant with over 35 years of municipal government experience. Prior to his retirement, he served as Deputy Executive Director for the Pennsylvania Association of Boroughs and was awarded the “Excellence in Local Government” award from the Central PA Chapter of the American Society of Public Administration. Ed has a BA in Political Science/Economics and MA in Public Affairs from Indiana University of Pennsylvania. He was an adjunct professor in Public Affairs at Millersville University and teaches Land Use for Pennsylvania Municipal Planning Education Institute. Ed is committed to efforts that ensure the best educational opportunities for all children. He lives in Cumberland County and is interested in History, especially the American Civil War. He also enjoys reading and fly fishing.

Ed joined the Insight PA Board of Trustees in 2021. In addition to his role as Secretary, he also serves as Chair of the Community Engagement Committee.

Dr. Katie McGeehan, PhD, MS | Member

Dr. Katie McGeehan is a community and cultural psychologist with experience and expertise in community-based research, mental health service delivery, leadership development, and disaster management. She received her Doctor of Philosophy in Community and Cultural Psychology from the University of Hawaii. Katie also has an MA in Community and Cultural Psychology, an MS in Counseling and Human Relations, and a BA in Psychology. She holds certifications in Disaster Management and Secondary Education and previously worked as a secondary and post-secondary educator. Katie is a published author and has conducted community-based system-level disaster research in the Hawaiian Islands, American Samoa, and the Republic of the Marshall Islands. Katie is committed to leveraging the power of applied research to build strong, resilient, and equitable communities. She lives in Montgomery County and enjoys gardening, reading, and going on adventures with her dog.

Katie joined the Insight PA Board of Trustees in 2020 and currently serves as the Chair of the Academic Committee.

Tamara Campbell, BA | Member

Tamara Campbell is a Service Coordinator with UPMC Community Health Choices. She received her BA in Social and Criminal Justice and Psychology, with a Specialization in Forensic Science from Ashford University. Tamara is passionate about helping others and committed to implementing services and programs that help our students grow and feel a sense of belonging while being their true selves. She lives in Venango County and is the proud parent of three current Insight PA students, as well as a recent Insight PA graduate.

Tamara joined the Insight PA Board of Trustees in 2023.

Bill Ferrara, M.Ed. | Member

Bill Ferrara has dedicated over 30 years to education and served in a variety of teaching and leadership roles at Pennsylvania schools. He holds degrees in Health & Physical Education and Administration, as well as a Principal Certificate from Temple University and a Superintendent’s Certificate from Arcadia University. Bill taught High School Health & PE for 12 years before serving as Assistant Principal, Principal, and eventually Superintendent of a Pennsylvania school district. He believes that every student can learn and is dedicated to fostering collaboration that allows for quality professional development to help teachers grow and meet the needs of their students. Now retired, Bill resides in Bucks County and enjoys history, coaching high school football, and spending time with family and friends.

Bill joined the Insight PA Board of Trustees in 2024.
