Insight PA is proud to offer the only fully cyber-based JAG program in Pennsylvania, and the first of its kind in the nation.

Designed to support students who may be navigating significant life challenges, the JAG model focuses on trauma-informed care, leadership development, career readiness, and removing barriers to success. JAG students at Insight PA develop real-world skills that extend far beyond the virtual classroom, including communication, goal setting, time management, and self-advocacy.

The results speak for themselves:

  • 96% of JAG seniors graduate.
  • 11 major life barriers on average are overcome.
  • Real-world skills enable JAG students to navigate anything from housing instability to economic hardship, and even trauma.

“To me, JAG isn’t just a class — it’s a community. It’s a place where we lift each other up and work toward something bigger than ourselves,” says Senior Semaj Hasaan.

Semaj describes JAG as a turning point in his life, helping him move from simply getting through the day to confidently planning for his future. Through JAG, he gained leadership skills, self-belief, and a sense of belonging that has shaped both his academic journey and his mental health.

Advocacy and Leadership at the State Capitol

In October, Insight PA JAG students traveled to Harrisburg for the annual JAG Pennsylvania Legislative Day, where they met directly with Pennsylvania state legislators. Students shared their personal experiences in the program, asked thoughtful questions about leadership and careers, and discussed the role education plays in shaping their future.

During the visit, students toured the Pennsylvania State Capitol and also observed a House of Representatives session in which JAG PA was formally recognized on the House floor. For many students, this experience was their first opportunity to see our government in action and to realize that their voices matter.

As a fully cyber JAG program, Insight PA students bring a unique perspective to these conversations, advocating not only for themselves but also for the value of public cyber charter education and the opportunities it creates.

Celebrating Commitment and Growth

Later that month, Insight PA held its JAG Initiation and Installation Ceremony, officially welcoming new members into the Insight PA JAG Career Association and inducting the 2025–2026 Student Officer Team.

This ceremony featured powerful words from Honorary State Representative Keith Harris, who spoke to students about resilience, perseverance, and leadership. Dr. Ruth Patterson, CEO of JAG Pennsylvania, offered closing remarks, congratulating students and recognizing their commitment to growth and success.

The event also brought together current students, alumni, and staff, reinforcing what many participants already know: JAG is not just a program, it’s a community.

National Leadership Academy

In December, Insight PA JAG students took their leadership journey to the national stage at the JAG National Student Leadership Academy in Washington, D.C. Two current Insight PA students and two alumni attended this three-day event, joining peers from across the country.

At this multi-day academy, our students participated in leadership workshops, national networking, and meetings with state and federal legislators. They shared their stories, advocated for issues that impact their lives and communities, and represented Insight PA as student leaders in public cyber education.

Each student attending brought a powerful story of perseverance and transformation, a reflection of the impact JAG continues to have long after graduation.

“Through JAG, I’ve learned the importance of staying motivated and believing in myself no matter what challenges I face.”
