Grab your hard hat and come explore 300 feet beneath the earth’s surface through an anthracite coal mine in Scranton, PA.  We will follow a guide through the winding underground gangways and tunnels past three different veins of coal. We will listen as they take us back in time and show us a day in the life of the area workers that powered the Industrial Revolution.  The descent down the slope in a mine car takes 3-4 minutes. The walking portion of the tour is approximately 1/2 mile and lasts one hour. The mine’s temperature is 53°F year-round. A light jacket and comfortable shoes are recommended.

Cost – Insight PA will cover the admission cost for currently enrolled students and one adult per family.  Additional tickets will need to be purchased directly from the venue.

Parking – There is a free, on-site parking lot available.

Meeting Location – Insight PA staff will have a sign-in table set up near the entrance.

Registration is required and will close at 4:00pm on 3/28/25.
